STAR FACTORY

There’s a well-known saying: “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” While there’s truth in accepting what you can’t control, I believe it doesn’t always apply.

When something makes you unhappy and you have the power to change it you shouldn’t settle. Instead: “When life gives you lemons, throw them back until you get the oranges you originally asked for.”

This idea formed the foundation of this short film.

I was responsible for the full process, from storyboard and styleframes through to the final animation.

Tools: Cinema 4D, Adobe After Effects

I wanted to create a non-narrative animation, inspired by films like WALL·E. I find it powerful when a story is told without dialogue, allowing the viewer to interpret it themselves.

I started by creating several iterations of a 5-second vertical slice showing a robot working in a factory. From this, the core question emerged: what happens when the robot is taken by the mechanical claw?

From there, I began visually exploring the concept instead of writing a script. With the idea "When life gives you lemons, throw them back until you get the oranges you originally asked for" in mind, I explored multiple storyboard directions, eventually developing option 4 as the foundation.
